  • SANTA FE: Collected Works Bookstore and Coffeehouse 202 Galisteo Street Santa Fe, NM, 87501 United States (map)

Dvořák’s Rusalka is the moving story of a water-sprite who longs to become human in order to achieve true love. The power of the Czech folk tale combined with Dvořák’s lyrical gift and flair for the dramatic make productions of Rusalka a special treat in the opera house. During the presentation, we’ll explore the pathos of Dvořák’s opera and his desire to bring his culture to life, an ambition shared by other nationalist composers, like Tchaikovsky (in Russia), Bartok (in Hungary), and Grieg (in Norway).
