The Hold a Tune Project
Simple, compassionate help to get you singing
Your friends and family discourage you from singing happy birthday. You figured out from people’s reactions that it was better just to move your mouth in choir. You got the message, but you never got any help to get you on the right track.
Over the years, I’ve met many people who have told me that they don’t sing or can’t sing, and I’m always sorry to hear it, because frequently, it’s because they never learned to connect their ears and their voice. If you’re one of those people, I’m totally with you, and maybe I can help.
Generally, when someone tells me that they don’t sing, I ask them if they have 10 or 15 minutes and most often we’re matching pitches and moving around up and down the scale. I’m singing with them the whole time, they’re never on the spot.
The Hold a Tune Project is an opportunity to see if it will work for you. It’s a one-time experience that requires no preparation, just a willingness to listen and explore together. If you can say and hold the letter “o” for the count of four, we can get started.
The Hold a Tune Project is offered as a public service, and this is a beta test of the approach.
