It’s true! We’re putting together the schedule of Opus OP programs that will be presented in Santa Fe and Albuquerque from January through April, 2025.

FOR LISTENERS

Discovering the Music of Paintings
Music and paintings combined! With Oliver Prezant and violinist Carla Kountoupes, clarinetist Jerry Weimer, and cellist Katie Harlow. Oliver and our three improvising musicians will work with your impressions and their own inspirations to create a musical interpretation of a beautiful painting from Tia Collection’s latest show at CCA (Tia X Chatter),

The ABCs of Conducting
What does a conductor do? How do conductors learn their craft? What does it feel like to conduct, and to follow a conductor? A closer look at how one person with a little wooden stick can inspire a hundred people or more to make music together with precision, expression, and intensity. With conductor and arts educator Oliver Prezant.

In the Director’s Workshop
What would your considerations be if you were the one making the decisions
about costumes, how characters relate to one another on stage, lighting, and and other aspects of production design? A closer look at directorial choices and how elements of staging reveal character and emotion. Featuring Oliver Prezant and special guests.

Discovering the Art Songs of Gabriel Fauré
Join as we delve into the subtleties of Fauré’s exquisite art songs and the nuances of the French poetry that inspired them. Featuring Oliver Prezant and selected singers.

Conducting Workshop
Explore stick technique, score preparation, energetics, rehearsal psychology, and more, culminating in the opportunity to conduct an ensemble of live musicians.

Practicing Performing
Learn to share what you find in the music and how you feel about it with listeners and your fellow musicians in a warm supportive environment.
