For Listeners: SCHUMANN AND ROMANTICISM - Santa Fe

  • Muñoz Waxman Gallery at CCA 1050 Old Pecos Trail Santa Fe, NM, 87505 United States (map)

SANTA FE, NM - Sehnsucht! It’s the German word for longing, yearning, the desired experience that’s just out of reach … and it perfectly describes the feeling that pervades the music of Robert Schumann. During the program, conductor Oliver Prezant, violist Kim Fredenburgh, and pianist Judith Gordon will introduce you to Schumann's Märchenbilder (Fairytale Pictures) for viola and piano. We'll take time with the nuances that make this music so poignant and expressive, and you'll have a chance to share your thoughts and feelings with the performers as we open our ourselves to the heartache and the manic exuberance of early Romanticism. At the end of the evening, we’ll hear the music performed in its entirety.

The program takes place on Tuesday, November 12, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.,
Muñoz Waxman Gallery at CCA,
1050 Old Pecos Trail, in Santa Fe.
